 If you haven't noticed, I love using my crock pot.  I feel like it takes so much of the guess work out of cooking.  It's nearly impossible to over cook using it as well.   Here's another classic recipe that everyone should have in their regular rotation.  It's delicious, easy, and versatile.

Bratwurst Stew in the Crock Pot

I'm hoping the last days of winter are in the present and not the future so I am squeezing the last bit out of my soup recipes.  I love soup.  Mike sometimes thinks we have them too often but there is something I really enjoy about a bowl of soup.  It's warming and satisfying, two things that are very important to me when the weather is cold.  Bratwursts, or brats as we call them, are nothing new to me.  I've been having them since my wee days as a child.  Apparently other parts of the county aren't so exposed to them as we are.  I'm sorry if that's you!  Brats are usually my first choice at cook outs during the summer.  Summer....oh how I miss you!  Until then, I suppose Bratwurst stew will have to do!

Growing up I called these amazing cookies caramel delites!  They were mine and my sisters favorites.  We would have to beg my mom to order a box or two because she doesn't like coconut.  She liked those lemon ones best....who likes those best?!  Wait, maybe she liked the peanut butter patties best.  I can't remember but I have a feeling she'll be telling me soon. 

This year I didn't order any cookies.  Some how I didn't even know it was time to order cookies and no one asked me to order them from their child.  I was sad when I realized I missed out on that one chance to get these cookies this year.....until I found a recipe to make them myself!  These really do taste just like the girl scouts Samoa cookies and I couldn't be happier!

Garlic Cheese and Herb Biscuits

I first saw these biscuits a couple months back over at Mel's Kitchen Cafe and knew I had to try them.  They sounded so fabulous and reminded me of the biscuits you get at Red Lobster.  If you've had their version, you know they are delicious!  They come together extremely easily, especially if you have a food processor to do most of the work.

Grilled Cheese (not for kids)

This is a grilled cheese your kids probably wont like.  The mozzarella cheese is so perfect in this sandwich.  I made it for myself the other day for lunch and loved it.  It's simple but still hits the spot.  I used the beer bread I made the day before and it was the perfect combination.

Beer Bread

 Beer Bread.  Most people have heard of it.  Many people have tried it.  I've heard of it many times but never has the pleasure of tasting it.  I've heard wonderful things about it and I can understand why.  It's soft, chewy, delicious.  In reality it's an easy bread to make too!  This is only my second time using yeast and you wouldn't be able to tell with how wonderfully this loaf came out.   I was very excited when I opened the oven door and peaked in and saw a beautiful loaf in there!  When making this, plan ahead though.  It needs time to rise twice.  Just remember, the best things come to those who wait!

Chocolate Cake Truffles

Boy have these Truffles kicked my butt this week!  I have made so many of them and my hands have had chocolate on them for hours of each day it seems.  It has totally been worth it though.  The end results is just as great as I had expected it to be and then some.   These truffles are great too.  They taste almost identical to a piece of chocolate cake with white frosting, my moms favorite cake.  I used a boxed cake for this one, just to keep it as easy as possible.  It worked wonderfully!

Steak Fajitas

Whenever I go to a Mexican restaurant I order Fajitas.  I just love how simple they are and how they taste amazingly.  You can dress them up however you like and they make great leftovers.   My kids wont eat fajitas, but once and a great while, I will make them anyway and just make them a plate of steak with a salad.  Pretty much the same thing.  It's all about the presentation here people!   Happy wife, happy life.  Fajitas make me happy.

Easy Guacamole

So do we need a break from all the sweets I've over loaded this blog with over the past couple weeks?  I think so! 

If you need to know anything about me, it's that I do not like cilantro.  I actually hate it.  If I taste it, I start to gag.  It started from when I was in my teens and I made a recipe I had seen in a cook book.  It called for a certain amount of cilantro and I wasn't sure how to measure fresh herbs so I chopped some up, and threw it in the soup.   While eating the soup, I couldn't get passed that taste.  It hit me in such a wrong way that the more I ate, the more I hated it.  It taste like a dirty weed to me and I can honestly taste it in any dish that has it, no matter how small the amount is.   This guacamole contains no cilantro.  It would be very simple to add some in there, but you wont see it on my list of ingredients.

Peanut Butter Truffles

Peanut butter Truffles=Heaven.  They are amazing.  I don't know of anyone that doesn't like the combination of peanut butter and chocolate.  If you're one of them, let me know.  Then I promise I'll never say that again.   Until then....I don't know a person that doesn't like the combination of peanut butter and chocolate.   Not one single person.   My husband saw them sitting in the fridge after he got home from work and decided he couldn't even have one.  Not because he doesn't love the combination of chocolate and peanut butter, but because he knew he wouldn't be able to stop eating them once he started.  I give him an hour.

Lemon Truffles

This week is my moms birthday.  I told her I'd surprise her and make her something she'd love for her birthday, but since telling her that, I have been brainstorming ideas of what flavor truffles she'd like best.  Being that her favorite cake is chocolate with white frosting, I'll be making a chocolate truffle with white frosting.  She also enjoys Reese's and so I'm going to make peanut butter truffles with milk chocolate coating.  The last one that I feel very good about is a lemon truffle, simply because I think she's going to love them!  Today I'm going to go over the Lemon Truffles.  After made, I am simply go to stick them into the freezer until the weekend, when I can give them to her boxed up nicely.

Oven Baked Beignets

We are STILL battling illness in this house.  We also got another snow storm today.  They go hand in hand apparently!  Anyway, I was finally feeling a bit better this evening and decided to make an effort at making something.  If you've noticed the over posting of sweets, that's because I haven't made dinner in a few nights here.  I have been under the weather and that left Mike up to creating dinner.....or in his case....driving to get dinner most of the time.  This week I've seen so many amazing recipes for beignets that it inspired me.  It inspired me enough to use yeast for the very first time, as well as my dough hook for my stand mixer for the first time.  This blog makes me try new things and I love that!

Banana Bread with Orange Glaze

This recipe comes to you because I have 3 nice sized bananas sitting on my counter, and several in my freezer, that need to be used.  I hate letting bananas go to waste, even though they are one of the cheapest produce you can find at a grocery store.  What other produce can you get 6 of and only spend about 1.00 total.  What a deal!  Perhaps they wont always be so cheap though.  Everything seems to be getting more expensive again since the gas prices are once again on the rise.  For now, you can make this loaf of banana bread for a couple dollars since you probably have everything you need on hand.  I love recipes like that!

More Cupcakes! Fresh Strawberry Cupcakes with strawberry frosting.

This week my baby turns 4.  On one hand I think "where have those 4 years gone?"  On the other hand, I think "I haven't had good sleep in 4 years!"  She's a terrible sleeper.  Had you told me four years ago that I'd still be getting up most nights with her, I would have thought that it wasn't possible to have a 4 year old waking up at night still.   It's something within her that makes her wake up at night, sometimes crying, other times yelling for us that she has to go potty (she also wont get out of bed on her own, ever.)  She's a different little girl, but she's my baby.  She holds a special place in my heart as my baby, forever.  Happy Birthday to my Peanutty Buddy!

Cocoa cupcakes with Cream Cheese Buttercream

First I want to say that I'm sick of winter.  In the past week, each and every member in my household has been sick.  We've had a stomach bug, we've had strep, and we've had bad colds!  I think we are finally on the mend and getting back to normal but I've had enough of winter.  I want to be outside.  I want to breath fresh air.  I want to be warm!   It's finally March, which means we in Wisconsin can see a light at the end of the tunnel by this point,. While many other parts of the United States are getting warm weather and blooming flowers, we are still seeing snow and gloomy skies.  Ugh.  In honor of March being here I made these cocoa cupcakes with cream cheese butter cream, decorated with St. Patty's day sprinkles!

Donut Muffins

I've noticed there are many versions of these sweet little beauties out there on the internet.  I've mentioned previously that I love cupcakes.  It just so happens, I feel the same way about muffins.  I like personal sized foods.  It give me a better idea of how much I've eaten and how much I should have.  Whether I listen to that or not is another story.  I have stuck to 1.5 of these today and will most likely go get the other half I have left behind as soon as I finish posting this.   The pictures are making me hungry.

Cheesy Garlic Noodles with Chicken and Broccoli

This dish is comfort.  Noodles and Cheese....Mmmm.  What more can I say?  My husband, King of condiments, felt like it needed hot sauce added.  So, that's what he added.   That's a man for you though!   If you have precooked chicken, this dish comes together in 10 minutes.   I didn't have precooked chicken, so that added to my cook time.  What makes that okay, is I cooked up a whole cut up chicken, and I only used half the meat so I have some left over for other uses!  Saves me time later!

Cinnamon Banana Pancakes

Need something to wake you up in the morning?  These will do it!  They are amazing!  I don't want to toot my own horn but the cinnamon in them is just a perfect match with the banana.   My daughter took a bite of these and immediately declared that they were amazing.  I tried a bite and I couldn't help but agree with her.  They are also pretty darn healthy, which is always a bonus!
